Despite the criticism, a church will likely be built in place of the park in Prague 10

Prague - A humanitarian and spiritual center of the Orthodox Church may likely be established at the site of a park on Ruská Street in Prague 10. Today, Prague representatives agreed that the magistrate should prepare a draft change to the zoning plan. The local Green Party opposed the plan, and about a thousand residents signed its protest petition.
"It is clear what the citizens of the adjacent streets think about the possible development of the park," said the organizer of the petition and Green representative in Prague 10, Miloš Mrkvička. According to the Greens, residents from the surrounding areas visit the park, which has benches and a children's playground.
However, the representatives approved the proposal to initiate the zoning plan change in the park area along with a number of other proposals. Among the suspended proposals was a change that would allow the construction of a golf course in a section of Klánovický Forest. Some local residents are fighting against the plan, demanding that the forest be classified as a wooded area in the zoning plan instead of its current designation as recreational and sports areas.
According to Petr Zajíček (Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia), the suspension of the discussion on the plan change for Klánovický Forest plays into the hands of investors. "The golf club can apply for a zoning decision tomorrow, then for a building permit, no one can stop them and it will be all set," said Zajíček. According to the Greens, it is a compromise. They claim the change was poorly prepared and included areas where golf is already played.
Overall, the representatives discussed a package of about 470 proposed changes to the plan. They supported relatively few of them. In about ten cases, the representatives changed their stance and agreed to the proposals. "A significant portion of these changes means the construction of green areas," criticized Petra Kolínská (Green Party).
The magistrate says that this time it proceeded restrictively. The changes were supported on only about one-eighth of the area of the proposed 16 million square meters.
