Hradec Králové - The Královéhradecké Museum of Eastern Bohemia will display a new model of the city of Hradec Králové and its surrounding suburbs in mid-May, capturing its appearance in the year 1420. The city council members have allocated nearly one million crowns for the production of the model, with total costs reaching approximately 2.7 million crowns, said the mayor of Hradec Králové, Otakar Divíšek, to journalists today. The new model will depict the look of the city during the High Middle Ages at a scale of 1:600 and will measure three by four meters. "It should be on display from mid-May, when we are preparing to open the exhibition on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the cathedral's existence and also the opening of the exhibition on the history of the city,” said the director of the Museum of Eastern Bohemia, Zdeněk Zahradník, to Czech News Agency today. After the exhibitions end, the model is expected to be permanently displayed in the museum building, with contributions from the town hall, the regional office, and the museum itself towards its acquisition. This new replica of medieval Hradec Králové will be complemented by two models that are already on display in the museum. The oldest model from 1908 to 1916 depicts Hradec Králové as a fortress from 1865. The second model was made in 2000 and represents Hradec Králové as a modern city.
