Karlovy Vary - The villa near Karlovy Vary, built by its owner without a proper building permit, must be removed. This was decided by the Building Authority in Karlovy Vary, and its verdict was confirmed by the Regional Authority of the Karlovy Vary Region. The owner of the villa, which officials say resulted from extensive and unauthorized reconstruction of the original cottage, is Jan Plach, a member of the board of directors of the third-league football club FC Buldoci Karlovy Vary. This was reported by today's Mladá fronta Dnes in its regional supplement.

The villa found itself on the list of known illegal constructions in the region after its owner deviated from the building permit during reconstruction. According to the spokesperson of the city hall, Jakub Kaválek, the house is volumetrically much larger. The Building Authority fined Plach 75,000 crowns and ordered the removal of the building. The verdict was also confirmed by the regional authority, to which Plach appealed, as he disagreed with the penalty. The case will likely be resolved by the Regional Court in Plzeň, to which Plach has turned.
Other illegal constructions in the Karlovy Vary Region have mostly been retroactively legalized by building authorities. The most recent example is that of Karlovy Vary councilor for the ČSSD, Martin Zeman. In Smolné Pece in the Karlovy Vary region, he had stables and other buildings constructed on the farm Babiččin dvoreček without a permit. The Building Authority in Nejdek was conducting removal proceedings regarding this case, but recently granted permission. The decision took legal effect a week ago.
A similar outcome occurred in the case of entrepreneur Nikolaj Stepanov. He built a village of wooden cottages in the Slavkovský Les Protected Landscape Area. And he doesn’t have to demolish anything. "Entrepreneur Stepanov did not build illegally, but in violation of the issued building permit. He added basements to some cottages that were supposed to be without basements," stated Kaválek.
Stalls in the Vojtanov market in the Cheb region were also built without proper permission. Officials from the Building Authority in Františkovy Lázně claimed they were essentially powerless. According to them, it is almost impossible to determine who actually owns the stalls.
