Litomyšl (Svitavsko) - Litomyšl in the Svitavy region has sued the architectural firm Burian - Křivinka, which designed the damaged municipal sports hall, as well as the company První litomyšlská stavební, which built it. The hall, whose roof sagged under the weight of snow in the winter, will not open in September as the council hoped, but not before the end of the year. Moreover, the repair will be more expensive than expected, costing the city eight to nine million crowns, according to today's Mladá fronta Dnes (MfD) and Deník Právo in the regional supplement for Pardubický. "We have sued the contractor, První litomyšlská stavební and architect Burian. We are, of course, seeking compensation for damages," said the Mayor of Litomyšl, Jan Janeček, to MfD. The building, described as architecture of the third millennium and one of the most modern halls in the country, was probably poorly designed. "According to the assessment, there was a faulty static calculation in the project," noted Janeček. "This is a matter that is not entirely clear; the degree of blame is problematic, and I do not feel like unraveling it. I will not comment on it," said architect Aleš Burian. The general contractor of the construction also does not wish to comment. Burian is one of the architects in Litomyšl who regularly receives commissions from the city. Burian has collected fees for the design of a new primary school in Litomyšl as well as for the modification of the historical center. He also designed the original stand for the athletics stadium on Černá hora, whose roof began to tilt under the weight of snow three years ago. První litomyšlská stavební also has a good reputation with the city leadership, regularly securing large construction contracts from the city.
