Lednice (Břeclavsko) - A spa colonnade and adjoining promenades should begin construction next year in Lednice, Břeclav region, with a total value of 100 million crowns. This was communicated by Mayor Libor Kabát to ČTK. This will begin the second phase of the construction of the spa complex.
The first spa building was opened in Lednice in 2007, and last year the spa received the status of natural healing spa from the Ministry of Health. According to Kabát, the spa is in demand, and accommodation capacities are still fully booked.
The funds for the construction of the colonnade and promenades should be received by Lednice from the European Union’s structural funds. According to Kabát, there were some complications last year regarding how much the municipality will have to co-finance. "At this moment, there is an assumption that the project will be financed in its original extent,” said Kabát.
According to the mayor, it is important that the regional government supports the expansion of the spa project. On Wednesday, the South Moravian governor Michal Hašek signed a memorandum to support spa projects in Lednice and Pasohlávky near the Vodní Mlýny reservoir.
According to Kabát, the new colonnade should lead above the spa house Perla and should become a natural center for the spa. The promenades should extend from the spa center to the Mlýnský pond. "This will create a space where spa guests can relax,” noted Kabát.
Lázně Lednice, where patients benefit from a therapeutic iodine-bromine water spring, mainly focus on self-paying clients, according to the mayor. The spa house Perla has a capacity of 80 beds. The mayor added that an extension of other spa buildings is planned. Accommodation capacities should eventually increase to 500 places.
Patients after surgeries, injuries, and those with musculoskeletal issues are heading to the spa. A pride of Lednice, which hopes to become a renowned spa locality in South Moravia, is its castle listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
