Prague - The Central Bohemian Region will contribute to the repairs of castles in Kácov, Skrýšov, and Osečany, as well as the restoration of other monuments suitable for social use. Seven successful projects will share 30 million crowns, the grants were approved by regional representatives on Monday, reported ČTK's Helena Frintová from the regional office.
The largest amount of money, nearly 5.9 million crowns, will go towards the restoration of the roof and framework of the castle in Osečany in the Příbram region, which was purchased by former Green Party chairman Matěj Stropnický with his partner Daniel Krejčík. The application by actor Karel Roden was also successful, as he received approximately 5.5 million crowns for the restoration of the interior frescoes and the refurbishment of the floors at the Skrýšov castle in Příbram.
Representatives also approved the request of Jaroslav Kubíček, who sought 4.7 million crowns for the repair of the ground floor of the southern wing of the Kácov castle in the Kutná Hora region. The Renaissance-Baroque monument was originally managed by the town, but was sold to a private owner some time ago due to a lack of funds for repairs.
The Roman Catholic parish - deanery in Mnichovo Hradiště in the Mladá Boleslav region will receive over one million crowns for the reconstruction of a pillar barn, and the municipality of Dobrovice in Mladá Boleslav will receive 5.6 million for the restoration of the rectory. The municipalities of Zvěstov in the Benešov region and Hvožďany in the Příbram region were also successful in their requests for funds for the repairs of Zvěstov castle and Hvožďany granary. They will receive 5.6 and 1.6 million crowns, respectively.
Applicants could submit their requests from February 17 to 24. The region can provide grants for the restoration of monuments listed in the central register of cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. They must meet at least some criteria, such as the use of the building for community and social life in the region, accessibility of the monument to the general public, multi-source financing, the urgency of the repair, or the readiness of the restoration action. The applicant must be the owner of the immovable cultural monument located in the Central Bohemian Region.
