Ostrava - A record number of visitors was attracted to the House of Art in Ostrava by the exhibition of Gustav Klimt's painting Judith. About 10,500 people came to see the artistic gem in just one month, said Eva Kijonkova on behalf of the event's organizers to ČTK.

Judith is among the most significant paintings of the 20th century; not only art lovers but also families with children came to see the Art Nouveau masterpiece. Klimt's Judith is one of the most expensive paintings in the world. The market value of the work is estimated at more than two billion crowns, but its artistic value is incalculable.
The Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava, whose collection is one of the most significant in the country, acquired Klimt's Judith in 1950 as a confiscated item from German property. The painting was displayed under armored glass and had a restored gilded frame. It was hung completely independently in the hall.
