Velké Meziříčí - The Cadastre Office for Vysočina will close its office in Velké Meziříčí in the Žďár region at the end of this month. The area will be serviced by the office in Žďár nad Sázavou starting in April. In Velké Meziříčí, the office will establish a contact point that will be open two days a week, on Monday and Wednesday. This is stated in an announcement on the website of the office. Velké Meziříčí has a population of 11,600.

The contact point of the cadastre office will be in the city from April 1. "At this location, one can submit a proposal for registration or other submissions intended for the cadastre office, obtain an extract from the cadastre, and other outputs,” the office stated.

The cadastre office informed about the intention to close the Velké Meziříčí office already at the end of last year. It justified this by the increasing use of electronic services, savings from leaving rented premises, and better staffing arrangements after the merger of offices.

The Deputy Mayor of Velké Meziříčí, Martin Kaman (independent, for Together VM), told ČTK today that the city will lose one of its offices and with it, 18 qualified positions that were there. In his opinion, the trend of moving administration to larger locations impoverishes the regions. The cadastre office will save money by closing the office, but clients and employees will have higher costs due to longer travel, he stated.

The cadastre office has, in addition to the district towns, also a branch in Moravské Budějovice in the Třebíč region. These branches remain, said the director of the Cadastre Office for Vysočina, Miloslav Kaválek, in response to ČTK’s inquiry. Employees from Velké Meziříčí have moved to Žďár nad Sázavou, if they were interested.
