Bezděkov (Klatovy region) - One of the most valuable castle parks in the Czech Republic is for sale. On more than four hectares in Bezděkov in the Klatovy region, dozens of species of rare trees and memorial trees grow. The Klatovy Office for Representation of the State in Property Matters will announce a tender for the sale of the monument at the turn of the year, with a price set at 11 million CZK. This was stated by director Jaroslava Preslová.
"According to the dendrological assessment, this is one of the most valuable parks in the Czech Republic, which also features a significant landscape element," she stated. The ÚZSVM is selling only the park; the small castle within the park, which is not accessible to the public, belongs to Russian and Latvian entrepreneurs, according to the mayor of the municipality, Josef Červený. The owners of the castle do not want to buy the garden yet and do not have the right of first refusal.
The 18th-century park, established in the English style, is, according to ÚZSVM, in decent condition. Annually, tens of thousands of crowns are spent on grass cutting and maintenance. Several interested parties who have already registered have viewed the monument. Anyone can be a buyer. "However, if they intend to make any interventions, they must consult experts," Preslová stated.
The park was acquired by the former district office from an agricultural school, which obtained it as a confiscation from the Germans. The ÚZSVM attempted to sell it last year for nearly 12 million CZK, but there was no interest. The price is in line with both the appraiser's and dendrologist's assessments, the director said.
According to the mayor, the owners of the neo-Gothic castle do not reside there. The empty building, which occupies the site of a Gothic fortress, took its current appearance in 1848. Neither the castle nor the park has been repaired for 20 years. "Trees are falling in the park. It is accessible to the public, but they may only move there at their own risk," Červený stated. It used to be a very well-known recreational center, where cultural and sporting events were still held for a while after 1989. The municipality would take over the park for free, but it does not have 11 million CZK. Bezděkov, with its 900 inhabitants, must pay off mainly a loan for the sewer system and repair the roads.
The Klatovy ÚZSVM has previously sold a similarly interesting property. A private individual purchased the castle chapel with a marble altar at the Klatovy cemetery.
