Investor will build new apartments in the Sokolov district of Šenvert

Sokolov - The land that the city of Sokolov recently acquired in an auction in the Šenvert district will soon turn into a construction site. A private investor plans to build apartment buildings with about 20 apartments here, local deputy mayor Jaromír Dvořák informed the press today.
    The city acquired the land from a former warehouse with the intention of using it specifically for the construction of family or apartment houses. "First, we offered the land to potential investors who would finance the entire construction. And there was a lot of interest," Dvořák said.
    From five offers, the council selected an investor who would not only remediate the land from ecological burdens but also build houses and facilities, including parking lots or a small playground. "We will now negotiate with the company on the specific terms of the contract," Dvořák added.
    Since the entire Šenvert is a district of family houses, the new buildings should not architecturally stand out. Therefore, they should be a maximum of two stories high. A total of up to 20 apartments could be built on the land, which covers over 4,000 square meters.
    The city acquired the land in the auction for about 800,000 crowns. With a sale price of 250 crowns per square meter, the city will recoup the money spent on purchasing the land with a slight profit. Moreover, without the need for its own investments, it will ensure the construction of more apartments and improve the currently unattractive part of the district.
    The leadership of Sokolov has long been trying to secure housing construction not from its own resources but only by offering favorable conditions for private builders. In recent years, several apartment buildings have already been constructed this way, and more are in preparation.
