Hlinsko (Chrudimsko) - The city hall in Hlinsko in the Chrudim region plans to convert a former vocational school acquired from the regional property into a multi-purpose cultural facility, which is currently lacking in the town of ten thousand. All events and activities for which the city currently has to rent spaces should be concentrated there. CTK was informed today by Mayor Magda Křivanová.

"Primarily, there must be a multi-purpose main hall, which should serve as a theater space and also as a social hall. We also need to include a cinema, likely a digital one or in a more intimate form like a cinema café, and the City Cultural Club. We would like to obtain spaces for education as well," Křivanová stated.
Hlinsko has not had a similar facility; for cultural or educational events, it rented halls from physical culture organizations Orel and Sokol. There is also a private cinema in the town.
The three-story vocational school is located not far from the town center, with a large open area behind the building, and there are enough parking spaces available near retail chain stores. "We would like to renovate the building and add a cultural hall and start using it as a multi-purpose cultural facility. The plan has already been approved by the councilors," Křivanová added. The city hall will have a renovation study prepared by the Faculty of Architecture in Brno. If the idea proves feasible, a construction project will follow.
The mayor estimates the reconstruction costs at 50 to 70 million crowns, with part of the funding to come from European funds. Construction would likely begin no earlier than the beginning of 2010. The operator of the facility would probably be the City Cultural Club along with other partners.
