The historical shooting tower in Znojmo will remain roofless

Znojmo - The Shooting Tower in Znojmo, which is one of its landmarks, will remain without a roof. The town hall did not agree with the conservationists on what it should look like. The tower lost its roof 150 years ago. The problem is that there are no records of the original appearance of the tower. The city proposed a historically inspired roof, but the conservationists did not approve it. They called for a modern solution. This was said today by the town hall spokesperson Renáta Bártlová.
      The Shooting Tower was part of the medieval city fortifications. Nearby stands a similar Vlk Tower, which has a romantic carved roof. The city council wanted the same for the Shooting Tower. A lookout over the city and the restored castle moat was supposed to be created on it.
      However, the conservationists rejected this solution. They argue that a carved roof would not be a return to the original state, but a "play on the past." They proposed that the roof of the stone structure could be modern, made of glass and metal, for example.
      The city could not push through its plan. Now, according to the spokesperson, it will attempt to secure grants for the reconstruction of the structure in its current form, so that tourists could visit it with a guide.
