Houses in Hanspaulka illegally interfere with the protected ravine

Prague - The gardens of the new residential buildings in Hanspaulka are illegally encroaching on the Kotlářka ravine. This is claimed by the association Arnika. Its representative Martin Skalský told ČTK that the investor ING Real Estate Development cut down several trees and shrubs while building the fence and encroached on an area where protected species are found. According to the investor's representative Renata Kodadová, none of Arnika's claims are true.
    Skalský believes that in the areas where the fence of the residential buildings is currently being constructed, construction was not allowed according to the land decision and building permit. "The gardens of the houses are expanding at the expense of the park," he noted. Due to the allegedly illegal cutting down of trees, he also claims that there is a risk of landslides in the ravine and further devastation of the entire area.
    However, the investor rejects these allegations. "We would never do such a foolish thing. The fence is being built where it was supposed to according to the plans. We can prove it. It is part of the project for which we of course have a building permit," Kodadová told ČTK.
    According to Arnika, the Czech Environmental Inspection should address the matter, and the local Civic Association of Friends of Hendl's Courtyard has also filed a request to halt the construction of the fence with Prague 6.
    The luxury residential buildings in Hanspaulka were completed this spring. The project includes villas and duplexes inspired by the architecture of the 1930s. A total of 45 families will move in.
