The proposal of the Association of Czech Furniture Makers is aligned with the ongoing preparations for the introduction of a scrappage scheme for cars older than 10 years. The scrappage scheme for cars is a supportive measure aimed at helping domestic car manufacturers.
The Association of Czech Furniture Makers is convinced that the furniture industry in the Czech Republic, which employs around 37 thousand people and whose production approaches 62 billion, holds an equally important position as the domestic automotive industry. Czech furniture makers also represent our country with products of excellent quality and extraordinary design. In particular, the design, which predominantly comes from Czech designers and design studios, is very positively received in the world! In the case of furniture exported from the Czech Republic, it often involves the export of ideas and know-how.
The Association of Czech Furniture Makers proposes the introduction of a scrappage scheme in the amount of 15 thousand crowns (half of the scrappage incentive for one car). The scrappage scheme would apply only to furniture older than 10 years, just like with cars. (The age could be proven by a purchase receipt or based on the statement of a court expert).
The Association of Czech Furniture Makers is convinced that serious non-discriminatory negotiations will begin at the highest level regarding the support of the domestic furniture industry, which is a very important part of the national economy.
Supporting the scrappage scheme for furniture is also an ecological step leading to an improvement in the living environment for people in the Czech Republic. This would open the way for citizens of the Czech Republic to purchase healthier and higher-quality new furniture than they could afford in the past!
This press release in the form of an open letter was today sent by the secretariat of the Association of Czech Furniture Makers to the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.
