Potštát - Roman Fojtík was inspired by the structural systems of space stations and mining works when building a wooden structure that is mostly buried underground. The prototype of the family house was presented today in Potštát in the Přerov region. First potential customers are already interested in this unconventional wooden structure.

Fojtík told ČTK that the idea of constructing a buried wooden building came to him at a time when American entrepreneur Elon Musk announced the intention to colonize Mars and the first Tesla electric cars began to roam the roads. "I was thinking about how I could help the environment. Everyone needs a car and then also housing. Thus, this highly ecological, efficient, and luxurious living space was created," he stated.

The foundation of the house consists of a special wooden structure in the shape of arcs, which is buried underground after assembly. "The construction system we use has been successfully tested on space stations and the same system is used to ensure the stability of mining works. I slightly modified the system and made a house out of it," said Fojtík.

The house, which does not require concrete foundations, has glass doors on the sides, and a substantial part of its walls is covered with soil. According to Fojtík, the wooden structure can bear immense loads, providing a safe environment for its residents. "The building will resist natural disasters, including hurricanes and wildfires. For example, when a strong storm comes, it won't damage the roof," Fojtík pointed out.

Among the other advantages of the buried wooden structure, which is offered in variants from 1+1 to 7+1 thanks to the modular system, Fojtík included significant energy savings. In summer, the residents of the house do not need to use air conditioning, and in winter, it is not necessary to heat excessively. "The soil serves as an insulator against heat, cold, and also against noise. There is absolute peace in the house. The summer heat can be endured in the house without air conditioning," Fojtík stated.

People can also use the roof of the house buried in soil, which can be easily accessed from a gentle slope. "If someone has a small plot of land, they can easily grow potatoes on the roof," Fojtík added with a smile.

So far, two prototypes have been built, and recently the construction of the first commercial wooden structure began in Potštát, which has already attracted interest from people from various parts of the Czech Republic. Fojtík has not yet revealed the pricing policy of the buried wooden structures. "Our goal is for it to be a house for everyone," he said.
