Since September 2008, extensive renovations have been underway at the Westbahnhof train station in Vienna, one of Austria's most important transport hubs, aiming to modernize the station and transform it into "BahnhofCity Wien-West." The station hall has been in operation for some time after a major renovation, and the rest will soon be completed and opened. On November 23, 2011, "BahnhofCity Vienna West," which includes a shopping center, restaurants, a hotel, and office spaces, will be officially opened. A futuristic office building on the left side of the station hall, with its two arms connecting high above the ground without any support, has become the symbol of the entire complex. The shopping center will offer 17,000 m² of space for shops, services, and refreshments. In addition, "BahnhofCity" will feature a hotel and 13,000 m² of office space.
