Prague - Nominations for the list of the one hundred most endangered monuments in the world can be submitted until January 15. It is compiled by the World Monuments Fund (WMF), a private non-profit organization aimed at saving endangered architectural and cultural heritage around the globe. The list, published every two years, is a call for immediate action from responsible institutions and for the gathering of resources. In previous years, Czech monuments have also appeared on the list. More than 75 percent of the declared monuments have already been saved, or efforts are underway for their salvation. The fund gradually removes endangered monuments from the list according to how successfully they are being saved. Among Czech monuments, the organization previously noted the fountain in the garden of the Český Krumlov Castle, the greenhouse in Lednice, the Chapel of the Body of Christ in Kutná Hora, the Braun's Bethlehem near Kuks, as well as the historical core of Prague and most recently, the Church of St. Anna in Prague (now Prague Crossroads) and the monastery in Chotěšov near Plzeň. This listing generally helped these monuments, usually associated with a donation of several tens of thousands of dollars. Nominations for endangered sites for the list can be proposed by ministries of culture, local heritage organizations, and individuals. The Vision 97 Foundation, which reconstructed the Church of St. Anna in Prague at that time, was even prompted to take this step by one of the staff members of the World Monument Fund, and it made it onto the list of the 100 most endangered monuments in the world on the second attempt. Interested parties can find the nomination form at www.wmf.org. The non-governmental non-profit organization WMF highlights endangered monuments around the world and revises their list every two years - a list of monuments threatened by poor care, vandalism, military conflict, or natural disaster. It is a global call for the immediate initiation of actions in favor of these cultural assets. Since 1965, it has been involved in the rescue of historical cultural assets in more than 450 locations in over eighty countries.
