Dubai - In the countries of the Persian Gulf, new hotels worth 18 billion dollars (322.1 billion CZK) are currently under construction. Among them is a hotel that is set to become the largest in the world. This is according to data released by the Dubai investment company ProLeads. The region currently has high revenues from oil sales and is trying to invest this money into other areas of the economy, primarily into tourism development.
    In Dubai, the Asia-Asia Hotel is set to be built for 1.63 billion dollars. The hotel will have 6,500 rooms, surpassing the current largest hotel in the world, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mubadala Development Co., which is an investment agency of Abu Dhabi, is also constructing the most expensive hotel in the region. The hotel complex MGM Grand Hotel in Abu Dhabi will cost three billion dollars. A total of around 100 new hotels with 30,000 rooms is expected to open in the UAE by the end of 2010, Reuters reported.
    The Gulf countries include the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain. According to analysts, these countries are now about halfway through a massive construction boom. The largest investments are planned in the UAE, where hotel construction is underway or planned for 12.7 billion dollars.
