The Art House in the Vorarlberg city of Bregenz is celebrating its tenth anniversary. For this occasion, the gallery has prepared a retrospective exhibition of the building's architect titled Peter Zumthor: Buildings and Projects 1986-2007, which will run from September 29, 2007, to January 20, 2008. For Zumthor, KUB was his first foreign realization. Since then, he has successfully built in neighboring Germany as well as in the canton of Graubünden. The exhibition will showcase a total of 25 projects, 12 of which have been realized. In today's fast-paced world full of grand gestures by celebrity figures and aesthetic superficiality, Zumthor's work represents an alternative that the organizers of the exhibition call "slow architecture." His works are based on the logical interplay of place, space, materials, shape, and light. The main focus of the exhibition will be to present the everyday beauty of his houses and the natural way they are built. The exhibition will be accompanied by film installations from Nicole Six and Paul Petritsch. As part of the summer celebrations for the tenth anniversary of KUB, there is also a 64-page magazine featuring messages from artists, gallery owners, museum directors, politicians, and patrons. This has created a very diverse perspective on art museums and the interplay of architecture, art, and society. The design of the magazine was handled by Austrian graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister, who has lived in New York for a long time. His characteristic use of excessive printing ink can also be seen in this graphic work for KUB. The magazine includes an interview with the architect titled “Because I am as naive as a country boy”.
