Palma de Mallorca (Spain) - Spanish painter Miquel Barceló has completed the decoration of the chapel in the cathedral of Palma de Mallorca (Spanish Balearic Islands) and presented his work, which is referred to as a modern Sistine Chapel, to journalists on Wednesday.

Barceló worked on the decoration of the interior of the 14th-century chapel for seven years. He used unconventional materials such as clay, ash, pigment, and bones. The chapel has a total area of 300 square meters. The decoration was commissioned by the Mallorca diocese, which granted the artist complete creative freedom.
The chapel is set to be inaugurated on Friday by a member of the Spanish royal family.
