Olomouc - Following last year's renovation of the Prostějov City Theatre, which is housed in a rare Art Nouveau building of the National House, an exhibition of photographs by Prostějov author Bob Pacholík will return. The event takes place as part of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of this significant monument, Eva Zelená from the City Theatre announced today.

"The author will convince the visitors of the exhibition that even moments when there was not a stone left standing in the theatre can be depicted very poetically," Zelená said. According to her, interested parties will be able to view approximately 20 photographs in the theatre foyer, which serves as an unofficial exhibition space in Prostějov, starting Thursday.
The renovation of the theatre took place from the end of last May until the end of October. The promenar, a space designated for promenades on the first floor, has returned to its original form. Restorers removed the consequences of insensitive changes to the interior from the years 1942 to 1944, and people can admire the restored stucco and brass chandeliers. The seats, flooring, wallpaper, and buffet have also been upgraded. The theatre's capacity is 513 seats.
The National House is a unique Art Nouveau monument of European significance. It is one of the prominent landmarks of the city. It was built between 1905 and 1907 according to the design of the leading representative of Czech Art Nouveau, Jan Kotěra. His task was to create a cultural and social center for the city with a pub, a theatre, and spaces for associations. Modifications made during World War II significantly altered the building's appearance, erasing many of the unique features of Kotěra's work. This year, residents and visitors of the city will commemorate the centenary of the building with a number of concerts, exhibitions, and theatrical performances.
