CCEA: I’m a Young "Austerian" Architect!

The Young Blood cycle focuses on the presentation of the youngest active architectural generation from Central European countries and, after exhibitions in the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary, it now addresses the Austrian scene.

The Centre for Central European Architecture, a non-profit organization that initiated the Young Blood project in 2003, activates individual national collections based on a general and very liberal call published in widely accessible professional printed and internet media. It invites responses through installations to the sentence I’m a Young “name of the respective country” Architect!, in a space of 3.6 m/3. The grammatical error in the exhibition title raises the question of whether there is even a purely national, specific expression that filters architecture into its work and existence in today’s globalized world. Architects can count on a power supply of 220V. Due to the repeated transport of works from their country of origin to Prague, with the prospect of further transport across Europe, the project must be easily and reliably packable into a space of 1.2 x 1 x 0.5 m. Young Blood addresses active architectural studios with an average age of members not exceeding 35 years.
The last exhibition in the cycle I’m a Young “Austrian” Architect! at the CCEA in Prague will present young architectural studios from Austria. These are not completely unknown names. AllesWirdGut, non-conform, or Transparadiso have already had successful realizations despite their young age.
The young generation of Austrian architects has repeatedly been in the spotlight of various events and exhibitions in recent years. Projects such as Architecture in Progress, Wonderland, Frische Fische, Vodka Pur, or Mega have intensely explored the working methods of young architects. In the spectrum of previously held events, Young Blood: I'm a Young “Austrian” Architect! is presented in contrast to shows explicitly as a panorama of various positions and viewpoints. The focus is not on the results but on themes that are important for the young generation of Austrian architects in the practice of their profession. The exhibition at CCEA presents eight positions of young architectural formations - eight slogans that are not only exhibited but are also discussed in detail at discussion evenings (Slogan Battles). The presented selection consciously does not claim completeness; it is more of a snapshot of the young Austrian scene. In addition to the opening event for the exhibition, there will be a competition of slogans "transparadiso versus AGENCYOFCHANGE.NET versus x architekten".
