Prague – The Prague 2 City Hall has announced a landscaping and architectural competition for a new design of the area between Horska Street and the New Town fortifications. The space is intended for residents to spend their leisure time. Interested parties can apply until February 22. Petr Tomíšek from the communication department of Prague 2 informed ČTK today. The area, also called the park U Hradeb, is located along Horska Street in close proximity to the Ztracenka Garden, Bastion XXXI, and Folimanka Park.
"Our intention is to create a space for leisure activities for all age groups with a small refreshment facility including outdoor seating. The project should also include a quiet zone for older citizens, a playground, and possibly the option of placing a public grill," said Deputy Mayor Jan Kolář (ANO).
The proposal should be based on the broader context of the area and the location at the boundary of the New Town and Vinohrady, as well as its proximity to Nusle. The goal of the competition is, in addition to the winning proposal, to find a partner for the creation of project documentation and subsequent implementation. The city hall collaborated with the Czech Chamber of Architects on the preparation of the competition.
In the past, the second district had the neighboring Ztracenka Garden repaired. New gravel paths were created in the originally almost impenetrable area, new trees were planted, and lighting was installed. The nearby bastion was also renovated.
