The municipal district of Prague 7 announced an open urban and landscape design competition for a park proposal by the Vltava River between the Holešovice port and the Barikádníků Bridge. The goal of the space revitalization is primarily to reconnect with the river, enhance the community potential of the area, and further connect the entire Holešovice waterfront with Stromovka. The plot area of 2.9 hectares is located in close proximity to the river, near Varhulíková and U Vody streets in Prague-Holešovice. After revitalization, it could become a pleasant place for leisure activities for the city's citizens. After revitalization, it could become a pleasant place for leisure activities for the city's citizens. “We would like to strengthen the unique character of the park with a preserved trace of industrial operation and utilize the potential of one of the few public places in the urban structure with a vast green area that allows free movement around the water,” says deputy mayor of Prague 7 Lenka Burgerová. “We do not wish for a precisely defined waterfront park. We would like a functional public space that will be able to dynamically respond to the changing ways the area is used by city residents,” adds architect Burgerová. The competition entries will be evaluated by an expert jury composed of representatives of the client and independent experts: PhDr. Ing. arch. Lenka Burgerová, Ph.D., deputy mayor of Prague 7 for urban development and the MA21 agenda in citizen participation; Mgr. Jiří Hejnic, councilor of Prague 7; Mgr. Jiří Knitl, councilor of Prague 7 for the area of public space and the environment; Ing. arch. Jan Sedlák, Ing. arch. Patrik Hoffman, Ing. Tomáš Jiránek, and Ing. et Mgr. Eva Jeníková. Additional external experts will also be invited to the evaluation. According to the winning proposal, the author will be expected to develop all stages of project documentation so that the park revitalization can be realized in the future.
