Announcement of the award: in April, usually on International Day for Monuments and Historical Sites (April 18).
Origin: the founding document was signed based on a government resolution on November 2, 1994, by representatives of the entities guaranteeing the award - the Minister of Culture, the Minister of Economy (later taken over by the Minister for Regional Development), and the Chairman of the Union of Historical Towns of Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia (SHSČMS).
Award: consists of an artistic piece made of Czech crystal symbolizing historical sites (it is the property of SHSČMS and the winners are inscribed on a free space, who receive a replica), a commemorative graphic sheet, and a financial amount of one million crowns.
Regeneration Program: the Urban Heritage Reserve and Urban Heritage Zone Regeneration Program was established by a government resolution in March 1992 as a tool for the rescue and development of historical cores of towns and municipalities. From 1993 to 2005, approximately 3.3 billion crowns were spent from the state budget within the program for the repair of about seven and a half thousand monuments.
