Brno - Interested parties can once again register completed projects for a competition aimed at helping to adapt cities, houses, and landscapes to climate change. This week marked the start of the second year of the Adapterra Awards, where an expert jury will select the winning projects, and the public will choose the most sympathetic project through voting. David Kopecký stated this in a press release on behalf of the organizing Partnerství Foundation. Last year, people chose the Bird Park of Josefovské Louky in the Náchod region as the most sympathetic project.
Technological or nature-based solutions can be submitted to the competition by owners, investors, designers, or contractors at www.adapterraawards.cz. However, anyone can send tips on examples of good practice from their surroundings via the website. "All quality projects that pass the professional jury's evaluation will subsequently be published in an online database that serves as a living inspiration for municipalities, investors, and even home DIY enthusiasts," said Martin Ander, an adaptation specialist from the organizing Partnerství Foundation.
This year, the best solution from Prague will also receive an award, as the city has joined the competition partners. "The biggest challenge in Prague is for municipal organizations to take climate and adaptation goals as their own, so to speak. It is the Prague contributory organizations and other entities that are key to making adaptation visions a part of daily practice. Equally important is the cooperation of municipal departments, the involvement of city districts, and last but not least, the residents of the capital, who can submit their own adaptation ideas and projects," said Petr Hlubuček (STAN), the deputy mayor of Prague.
Those interested have until the end of March to register their projects. In last year's competition debut, people submitted 24 projects. Over 4000 people voted for the most sympathetic of them, the Josefovské Bird Meadows. In the public online voting, people can again choose their own most sympathetic project from the beginning of August to the end of September.
