The architects will design a new appearance for the center of Velké Pavlovice

Velké Pavlovice - Architects have two weeks left to register for a competition aimed at designing the new central square in Velké Pavlovice in the Břeclav region. Its mayor, Pavel Procházka, believes that around 20 proposals will be submitted to the town hall. The city management will select the best one by the end of September, he said today to ČTK.
Although Velké Pavlovice is one of the well-known wine centers in Moravia, it lacks spaces to host numerous social events. The central square, 9th of May, is too small to accommodate about 5000 people for wine harvest festivals and celebrations.
"It forced us to think about building a new main square that would not only represent us appropriately but also allow us to meet with wine lovers and tourists," the mayor stated.
The new city center is to be located in the area between the bus station and the 18th-century agricultural estate with a granary. Some of the old buildings will be demolished on this eight-hectare site. A tourist center will be created from historical buildings, and new constructions of shops, banks, and apartment houses are planned.
Above all, the study should propose how the square should be designed to represent a modern center of a wine town. According to Procházka, construction work could begin in a year.
