The exhibition accompanied by the critical catalog Stavoprojekt 1948–1953 / practice is the outcome of the grant Stavoprojekt 1948–1953. The collectivization of design activities and its imprint in the memory of the Czech landscape and cities. It consists of three parts – the first maps the establishment and functioning of the state design institution during the period of the first five-year plan, the second reveals the era's social priorities and methods of standardization through the example of a housing estate, and the third outlines a broad typological scope of Stavoprojekt's activities.
The exhibited artifacts mainly come from the unprocessed fund of the National Archive ČSSZ – Stavoprojekt and have not yet been publicly presented. Their uniqueness lies primarily in their raw form, eloquently conveying an authentic insight into the lives of architects and engineers in the early post-war years. The exhibition is complemented by no less exceptional collection items from the City Museum in Železný Brod, cards from period field surveys conducted at the architecture school, and photographs from the holdings of the National Film Archive. organized by: Institute of Theory and History of Architecture FA CTU in Prague in cooperation with the National Archive curators: Jakub Potůček; Šárka Steinová; Petr Vorlík; Jan Zikmund texts: Klára Brůhová; Slavomíra Ferenčuhová; Hubert Guzik; Michal Kurz; Miroslav Pavel; Lucie Skřivánková; Matěj Spurný; Šárka Steinová; Martin Strakoš; Lucia Tóthová; Klára Ullmannová; Lukáš Veverka; Veronika Vicherková; Petr Vorlík; Jan Zikmund collaboration: Anna Budíšková; Jan Calta; Denis Eke; Tereza Havránková; Filip Paulus; Kateřina Vondráčková translations: Robin Cassling; Darren Crown; Klára Ullmannová graphic design, production, visual style: Formall – Bára Kočí; Gabriel Fragner; Jiří Klíma; Jan Forejt artifacts: National Archive, fund ČSSZ – Stavoprojekt, unprocessed; National Film Archive; City Museum in Železný Brod; Institute of Theory and History of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture CTU in Prague
