The installation site for the selected works will be the gap space on Politických vězňů Street. This is a location where one can see the panorama of St. Bartholomew's Church, the ossuary, and the ramparts above the medieval city walls.The subject of the public art competition is to obtain two competition proposals for the realization of two temporary art pieces that will be placed in the gap space on Politických vězňů Street in Kolín in the green area. The prize for each piece will be 75,000 CZK excluding VAT. The concept and compositional integration will be left to the authors' free creativity. The works should communicate with the viewer and the immediate surroundings as part of the public space. During the installation, they should become an integral part of the chosen site, contributing to the revitalization and cultivation of the space, creating a new identity, and acting as a catalyst for public discussion.
There are not many things that will remain for future generations. Much of what we currently experience and perceive as urgent and significant will be forgotten. Many things that today receive little attention will be valued. And art is one of the possible records of the uniqueness and individuality of our existence. The judges of the competition are Zdeněk Fránek, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Architecture in Liberec, Markéta Fantová, Artistic Director of the Prague Quadrennial, as well as representatives from Kolín, artist Pavel Rajdl, Petr Švolba, and Veronika Marešová, curator of the Central Bohemian Region Gallery GASK. The jury is represented by the city architect David Mateásko as an independent member.
