ON, ADOLF LOOS
The City Museum of Brno concluded its activities related to the Loos celebrations (2020) with the book On, Adolf Loos, published in collaboration with the Archive of the City of Brno and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Brno University of Technology. The publication allows readers to gain insight into the life and creative activities of Adolf Loos through the memories of Plzeň builder Bořivoj Kriegerbeck.
In December 1988, coincidentally on the birthday of Adolf Loos (December 10, 1870), the City Museum of Brno acquired a modest estate of the Plzeň builder Bořivoj Kriegerbeck (1891–1975) into its architecture history collection. This consists of manuscripts written in the form of diary entries and memories from 1928 to 1933. These notes, supplemented by sketches, are today an exceptional and irreplaceable source of knowledge, especially regarding some of Loos's interiors in Plzeň and for the Müller Villa in Prague, projects and realizations in which Kriegerbeck significantly participated as an employee of the construction company Müller & Kapsa and as a collaborator of Adolf Loos. They reflect the period of their creation and are purely subjective records of the author. Some of his opinions, descriptions of situations, or characterizations of personalities with whom he worked during his collaboration with Adolf Loos, and which he mentions in his records, may today provoke controversy. However, the editors made no changes to his texts and are publishing them in their full extent and wording.

EUROPEAN ADOLF LOOS
The Museum of the City of Brno commemorated the famous Brno native Adolf Loos on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth with an exhibition and a comprehensive monograph European Adolf Loos. Not only Brno traces, published in collaboration with the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Brno University of Technology.
In expert literature, the connections of Adolf Loos with his native Brno have so far been limited to his childhood, schooling, and sporadic work contacts. However, careful study of sources and literature has unveiled relationships that were continuous – family, builders, architects, friends. In Brno, Loos often lectured, and one of his most significant clients was also the Brno native Viktor Bauer, for whom he designed in Hrušovany near Brno and later in Brno on a scale that was not previously known even in expert circles. In Brno, Loos became acquainted with Bohumil Markalous, whose personality was fundamental for him in relation to the Czech lands. It was also in Brno that he met Jan Vaněk and Karel Lhota, who significantly contributed to the fame of the Prague Müller Villa, Loos's "most beautiful house".
Research activities in recent years thus correct and often completely reinterpret schematically repeated facts. The book also includes an extensive study of Loos's father, a sculptor and stonecutter, who was among the leading representatives of Brno's bourgeois culture in the second half of the 19th century. It also features reactions to Loos's work from Brno researchers.
