Composite orders are able to cope with today's complexity of a dynamic world and an environment made up of individual parts. They are tolerant and open, operating as agile constellations with existing and new structures, allowing interventions at various intensities, reshaping what surrounds us, and focusing on empathy and specific requirements rather than establishing a particular style.

Bernd Schmutz founded his office in 2015 in Berlin after 11 years of collaboration as a partner with the studio Caruso St John in London. Since then, he has worked on a number of projects from housing to exhibitions, recently focusing on changes to existing structures, partly in the context of heritage. He has served as a guest professor at Kingston University, Leibniz University Hannover, and the Technical University of Dresden. He is currently preparing a publication dedicated to the work of the duo Jaretti & Luzi, which will reflect on current housing demands against the backdrop of post-war apartment buildings in Turin.
