Biography
He studied architecture, art history, and archaeology, all in Vienna. As the curator of the architecture department at the graphic collection of the Albertina, he created an inventory of the architect Adolf Loos's archive. In 1973, he received his doctorate after his dissertation more than doubled the previously known number of works by Loos. For the next six years, he was the chief architect at Lippert Burkhardt and partners, and since 1979, he has led his own architectural office. He has restored most of the existing works of Loos and several other historic buildings. In the 1990s, he became a professor at the Central European University in Prague, where he taught the restoration of 20th-century architecture. He lives in southern France.
