LM Ericsson's factory is a classic example of Taylorist planning. The architect collaborated with the compan's chief engineer both in the programming and planning. Strict requirements were established for the rational flow of raw materials, products, and people. Te result was enormous spaces for both offices and manual labor, and separate dining halls for management, office workers, and laborers. The area around telefon plan is like an industrial society, with housing, factory, health-care, etc. After the first building phase in 1938-40, the facilitie have continuall been renovated and added onto: in 1958-62 with an office building designed by C. Dahl Steffensen; in 1968-74 with technical offices, laboratories, and education facilities along Södertäljevägen by Anders Berg; and in 1993-96 when large sectios of the production facilities were reovated onto offices by Nyrén Arkitekontor. The repetitive aesthetic of the facades is constantly carried through, as is the precious quality of the detailing on the director's floor, which includes decorative onlay work by Ewald Dahlskog. Konstfack (The University college of Arts Crafts and Design) moved into some of the premises in 2004, following a rebuild by Wingårdh Arkitektkontor and Love Arbén Arkitektkontor.
