The new study centre of Duchess Anna Amalia Library is located in a historic complex of buildings: the red and the yellow palaces of Weimar. A new volume is creating a modern urban entrance contrasting the pre-existing historic library buildings. Heart of the extension is a central read area covered by 16 overhead lights. The light hall is encircled by fair faced concrete passages and numerous workspaces and archives.
