The house on Husovo Square is a traditional typology of a small-town row house with a passage leading to its own agricultural courtyard. The varied brief required maximizing the spatial possibilities of the original house. The complete renovation is a joint project of the Zahradník family – the male members organize the implementation through their own construction company, while the ladies are the soul of the operation – the café and yoga studio.

The historic building facing the square serves as a café. The exposed masonry and beam ceiling inside reveal scars from past functions and modifications. Into the revealed internal structure, a precise stainless steel volume of the café counter and other necessary facilities such as toilets are inserted. Guests sit on a long ash bench and blue chairs. This creates a vibrant surface collage composed of authentic and natural materials – whether original or brand new. The café bistro extends through the passage to the courtyard, where a long concrete bench serves the guests.

A completely new extension in the courtyard fits within the footprint of the original farm stables. Its architecture does not disguise contemporary elements but responds to the principles of the original houses. The ground floor is built from old bricks salvaged from a demolition, the cantilevered gallery is supported by wooden beams and complemented with delicate steel stairs and railings. Behind the glazed wall of the extension, on the ground floor, is a studio used for yoga, lectures, or seminars.

A galvanized staircase rises from the courtyard to the gallery, which connects the original historic house with the contemporary extension. The attic of the historic house has been completely newly created. The roof facing the square retains its original figure – the height of the ridge and slope. However, a generous dormer is inserted into the courtyard, allowing for the development of a 3-room apartment inside. For one of the sons, this creates a "flat above the café." The gallery also provides access to 2 additional rental units. The first is a therapy room with facilities, and the second is a one-room apartment with a small rooftop terrace on a green roof.

The family's efforts have resulted in a lively urban house, despite the very complicated reconstruction, which helps to revive the small town in the Vysočina region.
