The largest rescue archaeological research conducted in the Pardubice Region from 2017 to 2023 has uncovered a history hidden beneath eleven roads totaling 91 kilometers in length. From over 200,000 archaeological findings, the most interesting and representative discoveries have been selected. Visitors can look forward to the oldest Neolithic well from Ostrov, which experimental archaeologists have attempted to recreate using period stone tools. The exhibition will also feature a selection of jewelry, tools, and ceramic vessels from a Bronze Age burial site in Rokytná. An exclusive display also includes the equipment from two rich graves from the time of the Migration Period found in Slatiňany. Visitors will see an original and a modern replica of a warrior's sword made of damask steel, as well as glass vessels that made their way to Central Europe from the Syrian coast. Part of the exhibition will reveal the background of the work of archaeologists and other collaborating scientific fields.

Indiana Jones may be envious
The work of archaeologists, although it may seem boring, is definitely not, and that is precisely why our exhibition design for the East Bohemian Museum in Pardubice, titled Exit 91 / Excavations, is not rigid.
For a while, we were puzzling over how to incorporate a modernly conceived exhibition into the complex spaces with arched ceilings of the Pardubice Castle, but in the end, we chose a standalone installation that wraps around the walls and columns in the hall.
Thanks to the contrasts of blue and gray tones, a white ceiling with paintings, a wooden floor, and a clever play with lights, the relatively intimate exhibition appears quite grand while still maintaining an air of mystery.
Part of the exhibition will reveal the background of the work of archaeologists and other collaborating scientific fields, so both sword and drone enthusiasts will find something to enjoy.
