The Bee House project represents a set of four compact studios designed as a flexible space for work, living, and creation. The buildings are situated on the site of the original landfill and founded on ground screws, which allowed for minimal intervention in the terrain and preservation of the character of the site.
The structural solution is based on a combination of steel and wood. The roof structure consists of steel H-beams and formwork panels designed for monolithic constructions, ensuring high stiffness, long lifespan, and a distinctive architectural expression. The roof overhangs create covered terraces and protect the façade.
The façade is made of vertical cladding from charred oak wood using the shou sugi ban technique. The organic terraces connecting to the interior are also made of solid oak. The window and door fittings are from the Schüco system. Heating is provided by electric underfloor heating.
The paved areas and parking are designed in a combination of brushed concrete and cobblestones made of Božanov sandstone. The areas immediately in front of the studios are finished with Pardecor material. The garden incorporates a mix of perennial plantings, bamboo, and preserved original greenery, which naturally separates the individual buildings and parking areas.
The interior is conceived as material-wise modest, with an emphasis on detail and craftsmanship. The interior cladding is made from oak slats, also used in the production of solid flooring. The kitchen and built-in furniture are complemented by custom handles and grips made from metal, cast in organic shapes. Custom chairs were designed specifically for this project. Storage and technical spaces are designed as steel modules with a powder-coated finish and perforation with a leaf motif, which appears throughout the entire concept of the building.
Both outdoor and indoor lighting is integrated as part of the architectural design and works with the atmosphere of the place, especially in the evening and night hours.
The project was developed in direct connection with design, projection, and implementation, emphasizing structural clarity, working with natural materials, and detail.
