Biography
In the year 1985, he graduated in architecture from ETSAM in Madrid. In 2004, he obtained a PhD from ETSAM for the work “Luis Barragan in front of the mirror. A different perspective”. Since 1989, he has been teaching at ETSAM, where he has been a full professor in the Department of Architectural Projects since 2012. Throughout his career, he has combined teaching and research with editorial work. In 1985-87, he was a co-founder and co-director of the architecture magazine “El Croquis International” and is also a co-author of the book “Spanish Contemporary Architecture 1975-1990”. (Editorial El Croquis), for which he received the COAM prize in 1989 and the “Madrid looks at its sculptures” award (Madrid City Hall VII award for urban research), and is also the author of the book “Luis Barragán in front of the mirror. A different perspective” (Editorial Fundacion Caja de Arquitectos, 2008). Now, as a result of three years of research, he published the books “Pretexts to talk about architecture” (Editorial Nobuko, 2012). He is the curator of the exhibition “35+ Spanish architecture 1975–2010. 35+ Construction in democracy”, which travels through Athens, Nicosia, Cádiz, and Madrid. His work, with a high proportion in the field of rehabilitation, takes place in various countries and has been published in various books and magazines, both domestic and foreign.
