Georges Descombes is a landscape architect active in the area from Geneva to Zurich (and beyond), which he traveled through during his studies. After years spent with Pier Luigi Nervi and Marc-Joseph Saugey, he discovered the metropolis of London in the early seventies, from where he returned to Geneva in 1975, marking the beginning of his academic career. At the then École d'Architecture de Genève, he founded CREX (Centre de Réalisation Expérimentale). His teaching activities took him to the wide American expanses: at Harvard University in Cambridge (1999) and at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville (2000). For his lifelong work, he received the Prix Meret Oppenheim (2021). His son Julien Descombes is also a landscape architect active in Geneva.
