In the modernized depot in Slatina, the construction of a two-story trolleybus hall has begun

Brno – Construction of a two-story trolleybus garage has recently begun at the Brno Public Transport Company (DPMB) depot in Brno-Slatina. The modernization of the depot, costing 1.1 billion crowns, has thus moved from the demolition and preparatory phase to actual construction. By mid-2028, the modernization will increase the capacity of the depot and improve facilities for the maintenance of buses and trolleybuses. The transport company announced this in a press release.

"We have started the assembly of the prefabricated structure of the new trolleybus garage, which will consist of 2,350 parts. There will be 130 supporting columns alone. This is a significant milestone for the entire construction as the area is beginning to change before our eyes," said DPMB director Miloš Havránek. According to him, the construction is currently progressing according to the agreed schedule.

The trolleybus garage is being built on what was once a parking area for buses. Instead of 43 trolleybuses, 75 vehicles will fit into Slatina, and the company will continue to dispatch gas buses from there. There are about 160 of them, with space for 100 under the roof.

"The modernization work is proceeding while the depot is fully operational. It is challenging both in terms of construction organization and coordination of individual trades. However, thanks to careful planning, we are managing to maintain regular depot operations and public transport without restrictions for passengers," added project manager Radek Nepustil from GEMO.

The transport company had planned the reconstruction of the depot for several years and ultimately expedited its start. The reason was the emergency condition of the Komín depot, where the first floor has not been usable for almost two years, causing trolleybuses to park partly in Husovice and partly in the open space of the depot overnight.
