Strabag will not meet even the second deadline for the construction of the railway station in Hradec Králové

Hradec Králové - The construction company Strabag will not meet the second deadline for the construction of the new bus station in Hradec Králové either. The bus terminal, costing nearly 400 million crowns, was originally supposed to be completed by the end of August, and the current deadline is the end of November. However, it is likely that everything will be completed only in the spring of next year. This was reported today by the Hradecký deník, citing the Public Transport Company of the City of Hradec Králové (DPMHK). The management of Strabag refused to comment on the further delay.
The construction is delayed due to the installation of the steel roof structure, which, according to the transport company, should now be completed only by the end of the year. "Then the installation of the roof cladding will follow, which will take six weeks. However, due to the weather, it will likely be postponed until spring," said the director of the transport company, Miloslav Kulich.
If the terminal is not completed by the end of the year, the transport company, as the investor, would lose a grant of 62 million crowns from EU funds. On the other hand, Strabag faces losing an 80 million crown bank guarantee if the station is not completed on time, which it had to pay before the construction began.
Hradec Králové currently has no bus station; buses depart from temporary stands in front of the train station and from a nearby panel area. After the terminal is completed, the builders will also renovate the nearby Riegrovo náměstí in front of the Czech Railways station. According to the original schedule, all construction work was supposed to be completed by autumn 2008.
