Brno - The daughter of the original owners of the Tugendhat villa, Daniela Hammer-Tugendhatová, arrived in Brno for the preservation of the villa. An international conference on the reconstruction of the building, which is on the UNESCO heritage list, began today in the city. According to the mayor's deputy, Daniel Rychnovský (KDU-ČSL), the meeting is to gather the opinions of European experts on the project. If the experts support it, the chances that it will be implemented accordingly will increase, Rychnovský told CTK today. The project was prepared by the municipality, which is co-organizing the conference with the Museum of the City of Brno. The restoration of the villa has been planned for years, but due to disputes among architects, the municipality has postponed it several times. Last year, it even canceled the competition from which the heritage restoration project emerged. The project, costing nine million crowns, for which a valid building permit also exists, is currently sitting at the municipality, but the councilors do not yet know if it will be repaired according to it. According to Rychnovský, lawyers must answer this question. The conference will have a different focus - mainly addressing the professional evaluation of the project. It will last until Thursday, when the participants will also publish the results.
