The architectural exhibition "Wooden Boxes" at the Technical University of Vienna will showcase modern wooden architecture by contemporary Finnish and Austrian creators from August 18 to September 7. The exhibition will specifically focus on summer cottages, which form a substantial part of culture in Finland; rather than luxury homes, these are simple cottages connected to nature, where comforts like electricity or hot water play a subordinate role. The Austrian building tradition is entirely different, but here too we find interesting and innovative projects. The exhibition features ten works, some of which have been awarded national architectural prizes or prizes for wooden buildings, illustrating the breadth of different approaches to the theme. In front of the main entrance to the university building, visitors will be able to admire one particularly original, crooked house.
