Přerov – The Přerov municipal office will open a new landmark of TGM Square to the public, the reconstructed Emos building. It will become the seat of the city council. An open house day with a full-day program is planned for May 14. In the coming weeks, civil servants will begin to move into the building. The reconstruction, which represents the largest investment in the modern history of Přerov, cost more than 400 million crowns. The city received a subsidy of 167 million crowns for the renovation of the building from the State Investment Support Fund, said city hall spokesperson Lenka Chalupová.

"Citizens will be able to view the results of the reconstruction on Thursday, May 14, when an open house will be held in the new city council building. It will last from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and will offer a full-day program for the general public. Visitors will be able to walk through the new headquarters, familiarize themselves with its functions, the layout of departments, and the architectural solution,” said Mayor Petr Vrána (ANO).

The program will include short talks about the building, guided tours of the various floors with offices and meeting rooms, discussions with architect Jan Kudlička, and an exhibition mapping the transformation of the site from the first residential houses to its current form. The terrace on the sixth floor with a view of the city will also be open.

The contractor has handed over the building to the city, and by the end of April, minor defects and unfinished work must still be removed; the object awaits approval and furnishing. From May 21 to June 14, the various departments of the city council will then move from their current offices to the new location, added Deputy Vladimir Lichnovský (ANO). The most challenging will be the transfer of agendas, which, besides electronic records, also involve extensive paper documentation and which the city council handles in delegated authority for the entire administrative district. This mainly involves activities related to the issuance of personal documents, travel passports, driver's licenses, and vehicle registrations.

During the move, according to the city hall spokesperson, it will be necessary to suspend the processing of some agendas for nearly three weeks. The city will inform citizens in advance about the exact dates of the closure and reopening of the offices. In June, the political leadership of the city, the mayor's office, the secretary's office, and the economics department, including local fee agendas, will also move into the new city hall. From mid-June, approximately 120 civil servants, who are currently scattered across several buildings, will work in this facility.
