Public recording of the podcast "Is It Not Blowing from the West?" will introduce on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Semler Residence in Plzeň a pair of prominent figures of Czech architecture with Plzeň roots – architect Roman Koucký, professor at the Faculty of Architecture CTU, and architect Edita Lisecová, his long-time collaborator and also a research assistant in the school studio.
In an interview with Petr Klíma, both guests will present the works of the office koucky-arch.cz for Plzeň – primarily competition projects for the solution of the Southern City and the so-called inner city. Based on the second mentioned proposal, which became one of the two winning projects, Roman Koucký, with his collaborators, prepared an extensive – and subsequently unused – methodology for the preparation of a new city master plan. The only local realization of Koucký’s office will also be presented – the interior of the exhibition hall "13" of the West Bohemian Gallery in Plzeň. The conversation will also touch upon Koucký’s former role as chair in the jury of the competition for the new Plzeň fountain.

The interview will focus on opportunities that Plzeň has not yet utilized in its development, the reasons why it has not yet overcome the legacy of the urban planning of the previous regime, and the possibilities of how to change this situation. It will also bring closer some of the total 30 student projects that, under the guidance of both guests, tested some of these possibilities on the academic grounds.

Admission to the event, organized in cooperation with the West Bohemian Gallery in Plzeň, is 50 CZK. Tickets will be available on-site and in advance at Plzenskavstupenka.
