Jihlava - With the support of the region, 140 cultural monuments will be repaired this year in Vysočina. Churches, municipalities, as well as individuals and legal entities will receive more than 17 million crowns for them. Vysočina has been providing systematic support for the restoration of cultural monuments for the sixth year. Over the past five years, nearly 100 million crowns have been invested in them. With the contribution of owners and municipalities, works worth more than 292 million crowns have been created, said the region's spokesperson Eva Neuwirthová after today's council meeting. The highest number of applications - 51, came from churches and religious organizations before this year's deadline. For example, the restoration of the Minorite Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Jihlava, one of the oldest in the region, as well as the namesake temple in the grounds of the Žďár castle, can continue, as can the Jewish cemetery in Třebíč, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The region will send over a million crowns for the rescue of castles and fortresses, including a quarter million to Archatt for the restoration of the castle in Libice nad Doubravou, to Hrad Ledeč nad Sázavou, and to the town of Jemnice. The Podstatz-Lichtensteins will also receive support for further repairs of the castle in Velké Meziříčí, the diaconia of the Church of the Czech Brethren in Myslibořice, and the town of Humpolec for the rescue of the ruins of Orlík Castle. Cottagers who are repairing their properties in village heritage zones, for example in Křižánky and Ubušínku in the Žďár region, as well as the owners of several city houses, can also count on contributions. One of the cottagers wants to use the region's support to repair a haltýř at a property in Milovy, a structure that served as a fridge in ancient times. In Střítež, they can start repairing the bell tower, in Vlkov, the municipal office will restore the wayside shrine, and Josef Svoboda in Telč will work on a steam engine.
