16 Francisco Mangado monograph special issue
Spain's economic troubles have not stopped Francisco Mangado from overseeing one of the most productive project offices in the country. Of the 23 projects detailed here, most are large and famous buildings housing public collections and services. Mangado's designs share many elements, such as an urban setting, technological innovation, and responsive choices of materials. But alongside these is a rigorous intention to ‘reconsider more intelligent and responsible objectives’ for architecture. Today Mangado advocates designing and building ethically, urging a move away from the display and spectacle that he helped to pioneer, and which he now feels has become insubstantial.

15 special edition: bearth & deplazes architects monograph
Valentin Bearth, Andrea Deplazes and partner Daniel Ladner have been working collectively from Chur in Switzerland since 1988. All three have held teaching posts at ETH Zurich and the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio. Their work as planners and teachers is clear in their approach, where a rigorous planning process accompanies an experimental attitude to materials and structural solutions. With photography that matches the firm's clean, restful aesthetic, the 20 mostly small-scale, residential projects featured here reveal the practice's blend of technology and tradition, and the formal clarity and economy they bring to inaccessible mountain sites, rich in natural grandeur and vernacular architectural tradition.Běžná cena: 950 Kč
14 special edition: valerio olgiati monograph
Valerio Olgiati studied architecture at ETH in Zürich. He lived and worked first in Zürich and later for some years in Los Angeles. He opened his own practice in 1996 in Zürich and in 2008 in Flims. Among his major buildings are the schoolhouse in Paspels, the Yellow House in Flims, a house for a musician in Scharans and the museum for the Swiss National Park in Zernez. Among his major projects are a housing development in Zug, a winery for Carnasciale, Italy and a music auditorium for the manor Hohenbeilstein in Germany. This book contains a lecture by Olgiati on four projects: three that already have been built and one competition project. He also includes his so-called iconographic autobiography in an attempt to illustrate his personal background in architecture.
