Woermann Tower

A space for the city is required of us. And singularity is also required: singularity in the solid and in the iconography of the object, and singularity in the void, in contrast to the massified use of space, so that the Woermann site can play a new role on the Istmo, and so that the Istmo can play a new role in the city..
It is a project with a public and political repercussion result of an international competition. Its interest to support this presentation lies in its placement in the city of Las Palmas in a heavily marked point of transition between the historic center and its expansions of the XX. century. It also states that a shape generated by distribution of buildable volumes can generate a public place as a present to the city. It houses a mix of public/ private programme: residencial – offices – library -municipal information center - parking which creates by its construction a collective event of the city.
